March 31st, 2008 at 3:19 amWell, after the call, I’ve been kind of speechless…which is not an easy accomplishment. After our conversation earlier on Sunday I can’t really complain about Bill’s ‘kvetching’, being a champeen kvetcher myself. Believe me, I empathize with his considerable challenges of the recent past.
My son always goes on and on about those grand conspiracy hypotheses, I’m accustomed to hearing about them. While I don’t buy it completely, I have no problem with the possibility of evil people just playing with the planet and humanity for rapacious greed’s sake; whose dual god is Money/Power and are more than willing to let blood for oil and the common man’s life be damned. You saw it when Darth Vader Cheney answered the query, “What about the people’s lack of support of the Iraq war?” His unequivocal, hubristic answer from the depths of his cold, dead heart: “So?” He’s a perfect example of the “golden rule”: He who owns the gold…makes the rules. (And this man has been a heartbeat away from the presidency for the past 7 yrs. YIKES!!! God must love humanity very, VERY much to keep Chimpy McFlightsuit alive all this time.)
Many people are naive about what goes on in the world, so in that vein what Bill was speaking about perhaps helped some people wake up…so much is going on it’s just easier to walk around dazed and confused, so to speak, putting one’s energies to more personal concerns. The sad fact is, though, since we are all interconnected one can’t insulate themselves from the goings on in the larger community to any great extent, probably not at all.
I’m really surprised at the deafening silence here.
I hope and pray people on the call aren’t this disengaged in general. I know people are very busy, but if one goes online regularly, a few minutes can be found to type up a comment on a blog.
I just wish we could have had a more solutions’ oriented call. I can listen to myself and friends kvetch for free. Stating the problems is all well and good, but what people are yearning for are ideas for certain actions in uncertain times. We need to put our heads together to come up with solutions…it’s not every man for himself, we’re all stuck here together, for better or worse, and we ain’t going nowhere else…’cuz there AIN’T nowhere else to go; except the grave, and we all get there too soon enough.
Personally, I believe, that though we are in for a helluva ride, it will only be as bad (rough?) as we make it. What you put out is what you get back. Focus on the bullshit and guess what? You get more bullshit. And face it, we’re all contributing to the bullshit. Law of Attraction, anyone????
There’s an old song that says: “You’ve got to, Accentuate the positive and Eliminate the negavtive, Latch on to the Affirmative and don’t mess with Mr. In-Between.”
